Engaged to be Married

Hi everyone! Here's my very first post for Bad Girls Couture. I've used a photo from around the time when my son and his fiance first got engaged.

To make this page I have used Prima's Zella Teal Floral Stories with Foil Accent for the background. I used pieces of Prima's French Riviera Un Petit Mot De La Mer.  I mixed gesso from the kit with baby powder so that I could have texture paste, and applied it to the Prima stencil in the kit. Using a cosmetic sponge I applied gesso over it. I used watercolor pencils to outline the raised areas, and rubbed on Prima wax. I glued on lace, pearls, flowers, bling, and a few strands of cheesecloth.

I put the photo on the packaging from the flowers.

You can see the Prima silver wax here pretty well at the right.

I outlined all the paper with watercolor pencil, then softened the lines with a wet brush.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Dancing on the Beach

Hi everyone! Here is a design team inspiration page for Mixed Media Warriors. Is there anything more beautiful than the beach at sunset? I love to walk right at the water's edge on the firm sand.

To make this page I stenciled texture paste onto a piece of watercolor paper. I dyed a piece of cheesecloth with a mix of Sweet Violet Purple Teal and Bachelor Button Blue. I sponged gesso onto the page where I planned to paint.  The black is Der Went Inktense watercolor pencil.  I used   Mission Bells Brown  in the background. The gold is mica powder and water. To add visual interest I added metal glitter, seed beads, micro beads, charms, bling, shells, lace, glass marbles, sequins, mica flakes, pearls, distress glitter, and more.

I bought the big chipboard pieces from Michael's. They're actually wood, and I layered on gesso, Prima Clear Crackle, Lindy's, Ranger Clear Crackle, gold mica powder, and more Lindy's.

This is my entry to the following:

Altered Art Journal Cover

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a new challenge project for Bad Girls Couture. The challenge is to use Wendy La Croix gesso and Prima -Finnabair -Art Alchemy - Metallic Wax - Old Silver. The gesso goes on really smooth, and covers well. I bought this little book about ten years ago at a garage sale, and thought, oh how cool, my metallic ink pens will show up so well on this colored paper. It turned out they didn't look " all that," but the book was too cute to throw out. How terrific that it finally has found it's purpose. The size was just right for the wonderful Prima Shabby Chic Treasures Baroque Frame.

To alter this I sponged gesso on the cover, used a piece of 7 Gypsies Paper I'd cut to fit,and glued it on the frame. I put a piece of cheesecloth under the frame for more texture. I applied lace, Prima Bohemian Crystal Chain Pack pieces, a Prima flower, and pearls.

I used Prima Metallique Wax, and also some blue and gold metallic paint to cover the frame and cover.

To make the details on the cover stand out, I mixed black acrylic paint and water, applied it on the frame with a brush in small areas, dabbed it off with a paper towel, and applied more silver wax and metallic paint. What wasn't dabbed off stayed in the crevices. I took a black water color pencil and drew around the image.

I glued on micro beads and metal glitter too.
Thanks for looking, and have a great week!

Autumn Portrait

Hi everyone! Here's a new DT page for the Mixed Media Warriors Challenge Blog. This is also my entry for the November 2017 More Than Words Challenge Outdoors & Woodgrain.

I think the wreath of flowers in the woman's hair and the colors of the page are evocative of the OUTDOORS.  The table has a nice WOODGRAIN on it.

To make this page I took a piece of Pion paper and glued it to 2 layers of posterboard. I wanted it to be free standing, and to not get warped from all the media I planned on using. I applied matt medium with a credit card and sprayed with Tattered Angels mists in Rich Cocoa and gold.  I  used a Prima bubble stencil and put some texture paste on.  I used Prima Steampunk Copper on the stencilled on bubbles, and some Clear Rock Candy. I dyed Tresors De Luxe lace and cheesecloth with Walnut Stain distress ink. Things started looking too busy so I sponged on gesso in a few areas, and painted on Citrus Alcohol Ink.

To add visual interest I applied distress glitter, microbeads, Swarovski crystals, sequins, Vintaj brass leaves, Prima flowers, metal glitter, and more.

The teal bling is from Hobby Lobby. There's a few small pieces of sequined bridal lace from Hobby Lobby.  It was nice it was already dyed from some other project.

For the chipboard I sponged on gesso, then painted on a thick layer of Prima Clear Crackle Texture Paste.  When it was dry I dabbed on Walnut Stain Distress Ink on the top and also on the sides.  I put Ranger Clear Rock Candy on top, and brushed some copper mica powder on . I
